Long Island House Fire Linked To Remnants Of Fireworks, Police Say The improper disposal of the remnants of Fourth of July fireworks potentially led to a house fire on Long Island, officials said. First responders were dispatched to a working house fire on Boat Lane in Levittown at approximately 9:60 p.m. on Monday, July 5, when the blaze broke out as a homeowner was cleaning up from a fireworks display. According to police, the homeowner said that after cleaning up he placed remnants of fireworks including casings in a garbage can on the side of the home, leading to the fire.
