Fireball Traveling 34,000 MPH Over NYC Caused Loud Boom Heard Across Tristate: NASA The mysterious boom heard and felt across the tristate area may have been caused by a meteor passing through the area, NASA says. Locals reported hearing thunder-like booms and rattling just after 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 16.  The USGS ruled out earthquakes, and residents across the tri-state reported witnessing fireballs to the American Meteor Society. After hours of anticipating, NASA confirmed a "daylight fireball" over New York City at 11:17 a.m. Reports filed on the American Meteor Society website permitted "a very crude determination of the trajectory of the meteor," …

White Shark Pings Off Long Island Coast White Shark Pings Off Long Island Coast
White Shark Pings Off Long Island Coast A 9-foot white shark pinged off the Long Island coast Tuesday morning, May 2. The juvenile shark was tagged in December 2022, in St. Simon's Island, GA. You can now track white shark Simon on the OCEARCH Global Shark Tracker! He’s currently hanging out near where we first met him a few days ago.htt…

Gannett-Owned Newspaper Under Fire For Inflammatory Photo Caption New Jersey's third-largest newspaper has attracted some national headlines of its own over an inflammatory photo caption.  It was published by the Gannett-owned Asbury Park Press on Saturday, March 20, and deleted from the media company's website on Sunday, March 21. The offensive photo caption identified “a f–king hot nurse” administering a COVID vaccine. It also called the unidentified nurse “a total JAP,” adding racism to the already profane and misogynistic text.  In a statement on Monday, March 22, Asbury Park Press Executive Editor Paul D’Ambrosio said the caption was fixed…

Feds: Trio Stole $1.5M Worth Of High-End Vehicles Out Of NJ, Rockland, CT, Long Island A trio of thieves who snatched high-end vehicles in New Jersey, Rockland County, Long Island and Connecticut often used one stolen car to swipe another, federal authorities said. In one instance, they said, the Essex County crew members stole a Maserati GranTurisimo at the Jersey Shore and drove it to New City in Rockland, where they took a Range Rover and a Porsche. A predawn police pursuit followed before the Maserati driver hit the gas and slammed it head-on into a police vehicle, U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said. The suspects fled in another vehicle, he said. Authorities later recov…
