The incident happened in Valley Stream on Wednesday, April 10, according to Nassau County Police. Just before noon on that day, Sandra McLamb, age 33 of Queens Village, parked in the HomeGoods parking lot, located at 750 West Sunrise Highway. She left her 1-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter behind while she went inside the store, police said. Company Recalls 30K Candles Sold Nationwide Because They May Burn Too Hot, Break Glass Jars A company has recalled more than 30,000 candles that were sold across the United States because they may burn at higher-than-usual temperatures, causing the jars to break. The recall includes Good Matters three-wick candles that come in a glass tumbler with a wooden lid, officials announced on Thursday, Dec. 15. Officials said the company received four reports of incidents where the candles caught on fire and cracked or broke apart while in use. Two women stole bedding and kitchen supplies from HomeGoods in Patchogue at about 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, Suffolk County Crime Stoppers reported on Monday, Nov. 14. Authorities said the store is located at 499-1 Sunrise Highway. The 5-month-old boy was found alone by a good Samaritan just after 10 a.m. Monday, May 16 in Merrick, near the HomeGoods store on Merrick Road, according to Nassau County Police. The witness told a 911 operator they removed the child from the car after finding all the windows up and the doors unlocked. The child was also crying.
