A home health aide has been accused of assaulting a victim on Long Island.
According to Nassau County Police detectives, a 68-year-old Searingtown man who suffers from a cognitive disorder needed the assistance of a live-in home health aide and hired Radica Barker, age 59, of Orlando, Florida, to provide care.

A Long Island home health aide has been arraigned on manslaughters charges for allegedly hitting a man in her care in the head and letting him bleed to death.
Suffolk County resident Gail Godwin, age 62, of Bay Shore, was indicted on Monday, Feb. 7, on charges that included second-degree manslaughter and assault, said Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly.
Godwin pleaded not guilty and bail was continued at $150,000 cash, $200,000 bond, or $2 million partially secured bond, the DA's Office said.

LI Woman Saved From $25K Court Officer Scam By Quick-Thinking Home Health Aide, Police Say
A quick-thinking home health aide saved an elderly woman from being scammed out of $25,000 by a man calling to say her grandson on Long Island had been arrested and need money.
Osvaldo Vallejo-Perez, age 21, of New York City, was arrested around 11:32 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, in Seaford, said the Nassau County Police.
According to detectives, an unknown man, later identified as Vallejo-Perez, contacted the 90-year-old woman saying he was a court officer.
Vallejo-Perez then claimed the victim’s grandson had been arrested for DWI and needed $25,000 dollars for bail.
