Teen Enters Plea In Collision That Killed Beloved Long Island HS Athlete
A Long Island teenager has been indicted for allegedly running a stop sign, striking another teenager with his SUV, and causing his death, authorities said.
Valley Stream resident Mactyme Michel, aged 19, was indicted on Monday, July 10 for his role in a January 2023 incident that killed a high school senior in Long Beach, the Nassau County District Attorney announced.
On January 12, 2023, Michel was driving a 2012 Honda Pilot northwest on Cantiague Lane in Westbury.

New York high school sports deemed as “low risk” have been given the green light to begin play next month, though higher-risk sports with full physical contact may only continue to practice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During a COVID-19 briefing on Monday, Aug. 24, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that lower-risk sports such as tennis, soccer, cross country, field hockey, and swimming in all regions may continue to practice and start play beginning on Monday, Sept. 21.
