Man Critically Injured In Hit-Run Long Island Crash Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash near a Long Island intersection that left a man critically injured. It happened around 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20 in Mastic. Transito Sanchez, age 54, was walking westward from Mastic Road to Herkimer Street when he was struck by a pickup truck at 4:59 p.m. The vehicle, possibly a dark-colored Dodge Ram pickup truck with four doors, fled southbound on Mastic Road, Suffolk County Police said. Suspect At Large After Pedestrian Killed In Suffolk County Hit-Run Crash A suspect in a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian is at large and police are asking the public's help in the investigation. A man was crossing Herkimer Street at the intersection of Carlton Street in Mastic when he was struck by a southbound 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe at approximately 8:50 p.m. Saturday, May 4, Suffolk County Police said.  The driver of the Tahoe, Joseph Virga, 55, of Mastic, stopped the vehicle and called 911, according to police.
