Long Island Woman Charged After Hit-Run Crash Seriously Injures Teen Bicyclist, Police Say
A Long Island woman was apprehended after fleeing the scene following a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a teenage bicyclist, according to police.
Jocelin Nunez Martinez, age 21, of Bay Shore, was driving a 2011 Nissan Titan pickup truck in Babylon eastbound on West Main Street, just west of Thompson Avenue, when her vehicle struck Jeremy Shaffer, age15, of Babylon, who was riding a bicycle southbound across West Main Street just before 5 p.m. Saturday, May 15, Suffolk County Police said.
Nunez Martinez then fled the scene in the Nissan, police said.

A woman was killed after being struck by a car while attempting to cross a busy Long Island roadway.
The incident happened just before 8:45 a.m. Friday, March 26 in West Babylon.
Mumtaz Malik, age 81, of Lindenhurst, was attempting to cross Route 109 at East Drive when she was struck by an eastbound 2019 Nissan Altima, Suffolk County Police said.
Malik was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she was pronounced dead, according to police.
The driver of the Nissan, Michelle Santangelo, age 51, of West Islip, was not injured.

A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle overnight on Long Island.
It happened on Tuesday, Jan. 5, at approximately 9:30 p.m. in Deer Park.
Richard Prezzano, 19, of West Islip, was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra westbound on Bay Shore Road, when the vehicle struck an adult man in the roadway, Suffolk County Police said.
The victim, who has not yet been identified by police, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with critical injuries. He died from those injures early Wednesday morning, Jan. 6, Suffolk County Police announced.
