A joint law enforcement investigation involving local and federal agencies led to the arrests of more than 100 fugitives on Long Island, officials said. “Long Island Wave,” a two-week warrant operation led by the US Marshals Service, resulted in a total of 116 arrests as law enforcement investigators sought to “disrupt gang activity in Nassau and Suffolk counties.” Police said that the arrests included 69 gang members who are facing charges that include homicide, attempted murder, robbery, and weapon possession. An alleged Bloods street gang member on Long Island with a lengthy rap sheet was convicted on multiple charges after allegedly shooting a man in a busy intersection and attempting to flee from justice, the DA announced. Hempstead resident Trevor Ford, age 30 was convicted on Tuesday, March 15 of assault and weapon possession charges for a May 2020 shooting in Hempstead. Police ID Crips Gang Member Who Shot At Officers In Nassau
Police on Long Island have identified a suspected Crips gang member who allegedly shot at officers before putting a gun to his head in a "suicide by cop" attempt. Suffolk County resident Jonathan R. Vazquez, age 20, of Bay Shore, was arrested on Tuesday, March 1 after a pursuit and shooting that began in Uniondale, said the Nassau County Police. A Long Island man will spend time in prison for his role in distributing crack cocaine and powder cocaine, U.S. Attorney Richard Donoghue announced. Tramaine Brown, 30, of Jamesport, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in June last year to conspiring to distribute and possess with intent to distribute crack cocaine and powder cocaine. Officer From Westchester Killed During Hand-To-Hand Struggle With Armed Suspect
An NYPD officer from Westchester was fatally shot in a hand-to-hand struggle with an armed suspect overnight. It happened just after 12:30 Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Edenwald Houses in the Bronx. The officer, Brian Mulkeen, was 33 and lived in Yorktown Heights with his girlfriend, who is also a police officer in the Bronx in the 44th precinct.
