Three men who authorities said were involved in a scheme to steal cash from victims leaving the bank have been arrested.
Police announced on Friday, May 10 that the following three people were arrested for multiple Nassau County larcenies that occurred over three months:
John William Murillo Herrera, age 51, of Elmhurst;
Carlos Julio Velandia Garcia, age 52, who is homeless; and

Selling Alcohol, Tobacco To Minors: Four Long Island Men Nabbed, Police Say
Four people were arrested after undercover investigators allegedly caught them selling alcohol and tobacco to minors.
On Wednesday, Oct. 11, Nassau County Police arrested the following men as part of its “Project 21” initiative:
Mohamad Hasan, age 62 of Elmhurst;
Edward Coughlin, age 39 of Seaford;
Tony Torres Navarro, age 42 of Locust Valley; and
Vikram V. Billa, age 27 of Glen Cove.
The arrests were made using underage agents, officials said.
Hasan is accused of selling tobacco at Star Bazzar Smoke Shop, located in Hicksville at 316 North Broadway.

One of the suspects in a Long Island attempted robbery was found to have numerous warrants in other states for similar crimes, police said.
On Monday, July 10, a 57-year-old woman went to the Franklin Square TD Bank, located at 720 Franklin Avenue, to withdraw a large sum of money, according to Suffolk County Police.
As she was leaving the bank, she was allegedly approached by a man and a woman, who tried to distract her by saying that someone had placed sharp tacks under her car tires.

A man has claimed a "$2,500 A Week For Life" New York Lottery prize.
Queens resident David Barranco, of Elmhurst, won the top prize in the scratch-off game and opted to receive his prize as 20 annual installments of $78,884 after required withholdings, New York Lottery reported on Thursday, March 17.
NY Lottery said Barranco will continue receiving the payments each year of his life thereafter, with a guaranteed minimum payout of $2,500,000.

Ten alleged MS-13 street gang members and associates are facing charges for their alleged roles in three murders, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.
In Brooklyn federal court, 10 members and associates of the Indios Locos Salvatruchas clique of La Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), a transnational criminal organization, were charged with murder in-aid-of racketeering, attempted murder, murder conspiracy, related firearms offenses, and marijuana distribution conspiracy.
It is alleged that the MS-13 gang members murdered Andy Peralta, Victor Alvarenga, and Abel Mosso in Queens in 2018 and 2019.
