Teller Refuses ‘Bomb’ Toting Robber’s Demands At Long Island Bank
A Long Island bank robber’s attempt at some fast cash didn’t quite go as planned, authorities said. Police were called at around 10:40 a.m. Monday, March 6, with reports of an attempted robbery at a Chase Bank in Bay Shore, located on East Main Street, according to Suffolk County Police. Detectives said 58-year-old Donald Klapak, who is homeless, entered the bank and handed a teller a note demanding cash. The note also indicated that Klapak had a bomb. A quick-thinking police officer on Long Island got creative to come to the rescue of a family of ducks who found themselves in a precarious position. The Suffolk County Police Department received a call from a concerned Bay Shore resident on Monday, June 21, where there was a report of ducklings in distress. Police said that upon arrival at the scene, Third Precinct Police Officer Todd Rigney located the ducklings, who were in a distressed state in a fast-moving creek on East Main Street on Bay Shore.
