Father From Hempstead Drove Drunk With Two Toddlers In Car, Police Say A Hempstead man with two young children in his vehicle was arrested for DWI under Leandra's Law after making an improper turn. Jose Perez, 48, was arrested on Thursday, July 25, in Hempstead by Nassau County Police after he was pulled over for making an improper turn near an intersection, Nassau County Police said. Perez was pulled over in his 2002 Honda sedan near the intersection of Jackson and Washington streets,  police said.
