Pair Of Shark Sightings Reported At Rockaway Beach Governor Kathy Hochul announced that state parks would be increasing their shark surveillance capabilities after two shark sightings were reported at at Rockaway Beach, causing closures. The first set of jaws was spotted at just after noon on Thursday, July 11. According to a post by the New York Police Department’s Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry, the shark was captured by surveillance drones - Rockaway Beach at 86th Street. 5 Onboard Raft In Distress Rescued On Long Island Sound In Riverhead Five occupants of a raft in distress with insufficient safety gear were rescued on the Long Island Sound. Investigation Underway After Mysterious Drone Flies Above Yankee Stadium During Game Police are investigating after a drone flew above Yankee Stadium in the middle of Yankees-Red Sox, according to NJ.com. The incident took place on Saturday, July 16 when the Yankees were en route to beating the Sox 1-14. The drone reportedly zipped around in the air for 15 minutes near the Delta Airlines sign in the right-center field, NJ.com said.
