A man died after being struck by a vehicle on Long Island. The incident happened in Baldwin, on Coes Neck Road, at around 6:20 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18. Nassau County Police said a cargo truck was driving near the intersection of Notre Dame Court when it swerved to avoid a car backing into the roadway and struck a 44-year-old man walking on the shoulder. A Long Island resident was killed in a house fire. The blaze broke out around 5:25 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14, in Nesconset. First responders rushed to the scene at Highland Place after a 911 call.
