A man who helped run a drug trafficking ring on Long Island — bringing in enough fentanyl to cause 150,000 overdoses — will spend at least two decades behind bars, officials announced. Darren Devane, age 37 of Hempstead, received his 22-year sentence on Tuesday, Dec. 19, according to the Nassau County District Attorney. Long Island Drug Ring Leader Sentenced For Distributing Cocaine, Fentanyl After Massive Bust
The leader of a Long Island drug ring will spend more than a decade behind bars after being busted for his role in selling cocaine and fentanyl in one of the biggest police drug seizures in history, authorities announced. Ricky Jackson, 41, of Hempstead, was sentenced to a term of 15 years in prison and five years’ post-release supervision after pleading guilty last month to criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. Fentanyl Seizure Largest In Nassau County History, Authorities Say
In a joint effort, law enforcement officials say they have seized 400 grams of fentanyl in two investigations that led to the indictment of 11 people for their alleged roles in violent drug and gun rings operating in Hempstead. Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas, the FBI Long Island Gang Task Force and the ATF Long Island Firearms Taskforce made the announcement during a press conference, adding that the seizure is the largest in Nassau County history.
