Man Punches Victim In Face, Then Fights, Injures Officers At Long Island Gym, Cops Say
A man was charged with assault after allegedly punching another man in the face at a Long Island gym and then fighting with, and injuring, police officers attempting to arrest him.
The incident took place in New Hyde Park around 3:50 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 2 at the LA Fitness located on Marcus Avenue.
According to Nassau County Police detectives, officers responded to the gym for a report of a man bleeding.

The incident took place in Nesconset around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27 on Charlemagne Drive.
According to the Suffolk County police, Jayson Merceda, age 29, of Colonia, New Jersey, was driving a 2021 BMW in Nesconset when he crashed the vehicle into the home at Charlemagne Drive.

A woman is facing charges after investigators reported that she placed a coin in a meat package that was set to go out for retail consumption in New York.
Long Island resident Karen Palacios Gutierrez, age 38, of Hempstead, was arrested at about 4:20 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, following an incident at the Ava Companies food packaging company, located in Hicksville at 383 West John St., the Nassau County Police Department reported.
Investigators determined that Gutierrez put a coin into a package while working as a meatpacker at about 10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, police said.
