Death Of 7-Year-Old NY Boy Ruled Homicide After 3 Years Three years after a 7-year-old boy was found dead in his upstate New York home, police have ruled his death a homicide. Hunter Degroat was found unresponsive at a Fulton County residence in Johnstown on the afternoon of Aug. 9, 2022, according to New York State Police. Despite life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Police investigators in Suffolk Country have released photos as they attempt to track down a suspect involved in a fatal hit-and-run in East Patchogue last month. Bellport resident Alexis Velasquez, 30, was riding his bicycle on Montauk Highway near Gazzola Drive at approximately 4:30 a.m. on April 28 when he was struck by an SUV that proceeded to speed away from the scene.
