Authorities are hoping new details about a male victim in the Gilgo Beach serial murders case – and a cash reward – will lead to his identification. On Long Island, the Gilgo Beach Task Force released details about clothing that was worn by the so-called “Asian Doe,” whose skeletal remains were found along Ocean Parkway in Gilgo Beach on April 4, 2011. Police officials on Long Island have released three 911 calls connected to the death of Shannan Gilbert whose disappearance led to the discovery of the Gilgo Beach serial killer murders. After years of searching for the identity of Jane Doe #6 whose body was found along with 10 other sets of remains on Long Island, police say they have identified the woman. For the first time in almost a decade, Suffolk County Police have released new evidence in connection with the Gilgo Beach serial killer case. During a press conference on Thursday, Jan. 16, police released an image of a black leather belt with two initials that they believed could belong to the killer because it had not been touched by any of the victims. A Long Island homeschool tutor is heading to prison after attempting to entice an undercover police officer posing as a teenage girl. Jeffrey Weber, of Seaford, has been sentenced in Manhattan federal court to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty last December to attempted child enticement, U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman announced this week. Search Is On For Two Men Who Stole ATV From Melville Man
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are on the lookout for two men who allegedly stole an ATV from a Melville man. Police say two men contacted the seller of an ATV through Craigslist and met them at a Lamarr Avenue residence on Friday, April 19 around 5:30 p.m. One of the men allegedly asked the seller to test drive the ATV, and he fled westbound on the Northern State Parkway, police say.
