There were 1,786 new cases in Suffolk County and another 1,409 in Nassau for a total of 3,195.

Long Island saw a new increase in the number of new COVID-19 infections as well as the positive-test rate, according to information released by state health officials on Monday, Dec. 28.
There were 1,037 new COVID-19 cases in Suffolk and 999 in Nassau on Sunday, Dec. 27, as Long Island saw a total of 2,036 new cases.
There are currently 1,334 patients hospitalized with COVID on Long Island, with 26 percent of hospital beds available in Nassau and Suffolk. A total of 614 of 822 ICU beds are occupied, with 24 percent available.

Long Island saw an uptick in both cases and the positivity rate for COVID-19 testing, according to newly released data on Friday, Oct. 2.
A total of 119,493 test results were reported to New York State on Thursday, Oct. 1 — a new record high.
In the top 20 "hotspot" zip codes, 6,703 tests were conducted, yielding 429 positives or a 6.4 positivity rate.
In the remainder of the state, 112,790 were conducted yielding 1,169 positives or a 1.03 percent positivity rate.
