Jamie Lambros died a hero.
The 48-year-old New York resident, from Long Island's Deer Park, died Monday, Oct. 7, while trying to save a young boy and his mother in the waters of Bermuda.
Lambros was enjoying a family vacation at Horseshoe Bay Beach when he noticed the 10-year-old boy struggling and went in after him, his friend, Chris Pompeo, said on Facebook. The child and his mother survived, but Lambros drowned.

A Long Island man has been found one day after relatives reported him missing.
Robert Lynch, age 94, of West Islip, had last been seen at around 1:10 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, in Bay Shore on Pine Aire Drive after leaving for a Costco outing.
In an update Wednesday, June 5, Suffolk County Police said Lynch was located and was unharmed. No other details were given.
