Apartments Damaged After Fire Breaks Out On Long Island Several residences were damaged and multiple people were displaced after a fire broke out at a Long Island apartment complex, police said. According to officials, the fire started at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 1 at one of the units in the Eagle Rock apartment complex on Pond Road in Woodbury in Nassau County. Long Island Man Who Fell In Neck-Deep Water Rescued By Police Officer A Long Island man who fell in the water off Cold Spring Harbor State Park was rescued by a Suffolk County police officer who responded to a 911 call. The incident took place around 8:50 a.m., Wednesday, March 25, when Officer Christopher Jablonski and saw Erik Holm, 43, of Bayville, in neck-deep water. Jablonski jumped into a small boat that was on the shore and used his arms to paddle out to Holm.  Holm held on to the boat and Jablonski jumped into the water and used a rope to help pull him and the boat back to shore, police said.
