More than two years after a high school teacher was killed in a drunken, wrong-way crash on a Long Island parkway, the man responsible for the wreck has pleaded guilty.
Joseph Norris, age 40, of Babylon, copped to multiple charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide, in Suffolk County Court on Tuesday, May 23, in the death of Anthony Mariano in November 2020.

A Long Island man has been charged with driving while high on drugs after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash that killed a 21-year-old.
The incident took place in Centereach around 5 p.m., March 19 on Middle Country Road, near Wood Road.
Christopher Guzman, age 39, of Farmingville, was driving a 2022 Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on Middle Country Road, his truck struck the side of an eastbound 2011 Toyota Camry, driven by a 66-year-old Coram woman, said the Suffolk County Police.

Police are investigating a fatal overnight crash that left a Long Island woman dead.
It happened around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 22 in Yaphank.
The woman was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, with her 1-year-old daughter as a passenger, on the southbound William Floyd exit ramp to Express Drive North when she lost control of the vehicle, crashed through a chain link fence, overturned, and came to a stop in the woods off the roadway, Suffolk County Police said.

Riverhead Man Accused Of Driving Drunk, Crashing With 7-Month-Old In Pickup Truck
A local man has been accused of driving drunk with an infant in the vehicle after a crash near a busy Long Island intersection.
The crash happened in Riverhead at about 6:10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, and involved a black Chevrolet pickup truck and a gray Jeep Cherokee eastbound on Main Road near the intersection of Route 105, Riverhead Police said.
Upon police arrival, an investigation was conducted and the operator of the pickup truck, Phillip Majeski age, of Riverhead, was found to be intoxicated, and had a 7-month-old child inside the vehicle, according to police.

Man Struck, Killed While Walking On Long Island Street
A man has died after being struck by a car while walking on a Long Island street.
Emergency crews in Bay Shore were called at around 6:15 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, with reports that a pedestrian had been struck on Spur Drive North near Bentwood Road, according to Suffolk County Police.
Investigators said 87-year-old Jose Guaman, of Bay Shore, was walking westbound on the shoulder of Spur Drive North when he was hit by a Chevrolet Silverado turning from Brentwood Road.
Guaman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
