A Long Island man has pleaded guilty to an attempted murder charge after shooting his ex-girlfriend in the chest.
Sammie Darby, age 22, admitted to the second-degree attempted murder charge for the incident that happened in Bay Shore in November of last year, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney announced on Thursday, Nov. 17.
Darby, a resident of Bay Shore, went to the victim's apartment complex on Nov. 30, 2021, and found her in the parking lot with another man, Tierney said.

A Long Island man wanted as a second suspect in a summer shooting that left a teen boy hurt has surrendered to authorities in New Jersey.
Marcus Johnson, 22, of Patchogue, turned himself in at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, Hoboken Police Detective Lt. Danilo Cabrera said.
A warrant was issued for Johnson's arrest in September on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder and various weapons offenses, in the Monday, June 6 shooting on 4th and Jackson Street, Cabrera said.

Treyvius Tunstall, age 22, of West Babylon, was charged with multiple crimes in Suffolk County Monday, Aug. 29, stemming from the attack that injured a store manager and two customers.
