Hurricane Ida made landfall as a Category 4 storm in southeastern Louisiana on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 29, the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, which made landfall as a Cat 3 hurricane. The National Hurricane Center says it's watching three areas of what it calls "disturbed weather" in the Atlantic Basin that could develop into tropical systems in the coming days. Tropical Storm Elsa could affect this region late this week as it treks up the East Coast after it's expected to make landfall in Florida. At 8 a.m. Monday, July 5, the center of Elsa was located about 165 miles southeast of Havana, Cuba.
