Woman Crossing Busy Roadway Struck, Killed By Car In Plainview
An 80-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a car while she was crossing Old Country Road in Plainview, Nassau County Police said. The incident happened just after 5 p.m.on Thursday, July 11. According to detectives, the woman was hit by a 2017 Hyundai, which was traveling westbound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene by a Nassau County AMT. The driver of the vehicle, a 66-year-old male, remained at the scene and was not injured. One Killed, Three Injured After Car Rear-Ends SUV In East Patchogue, Police Say
One person was killed and three others injured in a two-vehicle crash in East Patchogue. The crash occurred when a stopped 2012 Infinity Q56 on South Country Road facing westbound at the intersection of North Dunton Avenue was rear-ended by a 2007 Hyundai Elantra traveling westbound at approximately 6:45 p.m. Saturday, June 23, Suffolk County Police said. One cadet is reported dead and 20 cadets and two soldiers are wounded following a crash of a Light Medium Tactical Vehicle crash at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. The crash, according to officials at West Point, took place around 6:45 a.m., Thursday, June 6, off Route 293 in the Camp Natural Bridge area. The injured have been transported to local hospitals. Multiple Injuries Reported After BMW SUV Loses Control, Strikes Pedestrians In Freeport
At least three people were injured when an out-of-control BMW SUV jumped a curb and struck three pedestrians late in the afternoon on Memorial Day. The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. at South Long Beach Avenue and West Merrick Road in Freeport when the SUV traveling westbound landed on the sidewalk near a branch of Bethpage bank and opposite a CVS. Three victims were children and one was airlifted to the hospital, according to ABC 7. There has not been any word yet on the conditions of those injured. This is a developing story. Syracuse University men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim made his first public appearance three days after the SUV he was driving struck and killed a pedestrian on Saturday, Feb. 23. Boeheim was back on the bench coaching the Orange in a 75-65 nationally televised loss to No. 1-ranked Duke at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse.
