Man Nabbed With Illegal Weapon After Fleeing Police, Resisting Arrest, Police Say A man was nabbed on Long Island with an illegal handgun after allegedly fleeing police, crashing, and then resisting arrest. The incident took place in Valley Stream around 12:50 a.m., Wednesday, April 27 on Sunrise Highway. According to detectives, a Fifth Precinct police officer on patrol on Sunrise Highway spotted a 2019 Nissan traveling east with an expired out-of-state temporary registration tag and dark tinted windows.  The officer attempted to stop the car at which time the driver refused to stop.
