The incident took place around 8:15 p.m., Friday, June 7, when Nassau County Police responded to a call for a disturbance on Judith Court in Wantagh for a report of a firework being thrown, said the Nassau County Police.

When officers arrived on the scene, the homeowner told police that a firework had been thrown into his backyard pool and exploded while his daughter and three of her friends were swimming, police said.

Police were able to view the home's security camera footage which showed a neighbor, Donald Hollman, 37, throwing the firework before running back towards his house.

A short time later police arrived at Hollman’s residence and placed him into custody without incident.

An investigation found additional fireworks, marijuana and three rifles/shotguns inside his home.

"For the safety and security of all of residents and visitors, Nassau County Police will continue with their zero tolerance approach regarding the possession and illegal use of fireworks," police said.

Hollman was charged with four counts of reckless endangerment, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, three counts of criminal possession of a weapon, criminal mischief, arson, two charges lack of explosives licenses and certificates, storage of explosives, unlawfully selling fireworks and possession of marijuana.
