Man Driving Drunk With Two Kids In Car Crashes Into Long Island Grocery Store, Police Say

A man driving drunk with two children as passengers crashed his car into a Long Island grocery store, according to police.

The incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15 in Greenport. 

A Southold Town police officer was on routine patrol when a loud crash was heard. 

The officer responded to the store, located at 331 Front St. in Greenport, and located Edwin Parada Dominguez behind the wheel, crashed into the building. 

Parada Dominguez, 33, of Wyandanch had the smell of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, Southold Police said.

Parada Dominguez was unsteady on his feet and failed road side sobriety tests, according to police. 

Parada Dominguez had two children in the vehicle under the age of 15, said police.

His vehicle was towed to the Southold Town Police Impound. 

Dominguez was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. He was charged with:

  • driving while intoxicated,
  • aggravated driving while intoxicated (with child/children under age 15/Leandra's Law)
  • endangering the welfare of a child.
