Man Charged After Fleeing Crash That Killed Long Island Mom, Police Say

A man has been arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run that killed a mother on Long Island.

East Hampton police have arrested a man who allegedly hit and killed a mother of two who was pushing her children in a stroller.

Mark A. Corrado Jr., 28, of West Babylon, was arrested by. East Hampton for leaving the scene of an incident that killed a 36-year-old mother who was pushing her kids in a stroller in Amagansett, around 11:45 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, said Captain Chris Anderson.

According to Anderson, Corrado was driving east on Montauk Highway near Bunker Hill Road in a 1997 Dodge pickup when he struck Yuris Murillo Cruz, who was with her 1-year-old and 4-year-old children. 

Corrado did not stop and drove east before abandoning his pickup truck in a wooded area on Gilberts Path in Amagansett and fleeing into a wooded area, Anderson said.

Police later found the vehicle in a wooded area.

Corrado Jr. later surrendered to East Hampton detectives, police say. 

He was charged with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, Anderson said.

Police did not comment on the condition of the children.
