The crash happened on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 4:40 p.m. in Massapequa, Nassau County Police said.
According to detectives, while on his bicycle traveling northbound on Oakdale Avenue at the intersection of Linden Street, the victim was involved in a collision with a 2011 Honda Pilot, police said.
The Honda was heading westbound on Linden Street and was being operated by a 69-year-old male, according to police.
As a result of the collision, the bicyclist, Lorenzo DiBenedetto, suffered multiple trauma injuries. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead by a staff physician.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
