The body found at Cupsogue County Park around 1:20 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2, has been identified as Joseph Rera, 16, of Center Moriches, said the Suffolk County Police.
Rera was reported missing while fishing at the location on Friday, Nov. 6, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The Coast Guard said Rera was swept into the water near the Moriches Inlet while fishing near Dune Road.
The Coast Guard called off the search for the teen on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Friends and family said on a GoFundMe page the teen was an avid fisherman who has been fishing since he learned to walk.
He was known to spend weekends with his friends fishing at the inlet.
The GoFundMe page said: "Joey radiates comedic energy and brings joy into the most unlikely situations. He is down to earth; everyone who meets him can't help but smile and laugh in his presence."
