The incident happened shortly after 4 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at a home in Locust Valley, according to Nassau County Police. 

Detectives said the 66-year-old resident caught two of the men in the doorway, while the third was standing just outside the home.

All three suspects fled the scene when the homeowner confronted them. There were no reports of injuries. 

The men were described as wearing all-black clothing and surgical masks.

Nassau County detectives are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain anonymous.
