Approximately 150 firefighters from nearly two dozen area fire departments responded to the blaze in Old Brookville on Linden Lane, after a fire was reported that originated out of a garage late on Wednesday, July 24, fire officials said.
The fire sparked in the garage, then spread to the main residence, officials noted. The homeowner had pulled into the garage before the fire began, damaging other vehicles before it jumped to the home, police said.
The female driver and another homeowner were able to leave the home without incident unharmed. The fire has been determined as non-suspicious, investigators noted.
According to investigators, the main part of the fire was knocked down at approximately 10:30 p.m. and the fire was considered under control by 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24. Firefighters remained on scene to knock down pockets of fire in the attic and other places in the home.
