Police initially arrived at the scene for a miscellaneous complaint at 208 Ellington Avenue in East Garden City on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at approximately 7:25 p.m.
Officers were informed by the building's maintenance staff about the shot pipe, and observed suspects jumping from a second-floor balcony and an object falling to the ground, according to police.
Police later determined that the object was the handgun used to shoot the pipe.
The suspects were located shortly afterward in the vicinity of Commercial Avenue and Quentin Roosevelt Boulevard.
Kayshawn Joseph, of Queens, was charged with the felonies of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm.
