Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy Sini announced on Thursday, Jan. 9 that St. James resident Chester Pergan, 53, the owner of Chester’s Hunting and Fishing store in Ronkonkoma, pleaded not guilty to a 69-count indictment charging him with weapons offenses.
Sini said that more than 100 assault rifles and nearly 850 high-capacity magazines were seized by investigators at Pergan’s store.
After pleading not guilty, bail was set for Pergan at $400,000 cash bail or $800,000 bond.
