Christopher Swanson, 42, of Sayville, was in possession of an assault rifle and automatic handgun when he was arrested last month on Wednesday, Aug. 14. At the time of his arrest at a Ronkonkoma hotel, he reportedly had approximately 800 bags of heroin in the room with him.

District Attorney Timothy Sini said that man of the weapons were described as “ghost guns” because they do not have serial numbers and therefore cannot be traced.

"This is a drug dealer. A drug dealer who was assembling ghost weapons," Sini said. "It cannot be overstated how dangerous these weapons are particularly when in possession of a criminal, a prior felon, a known drug dealer.”

Swanson has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him. His attorney reportedly called Swanson a “gun hobbyist” who may have not known he was breaking the law. No explanation was given for the alleged heroin.

If convicted, Swanson faces up to 15 years in prison. He’s currently being held in lieu of $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear back in court on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
