The parkway will be closed in both directions between the Loop Parkway (Exit M10) and Bay Parkway in Hempstead beginning the night of Monday, Sept. 19, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
The closure will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on weeknights for about a week, state officials said.
Motorists are advised to use the Wantagh State Parkway as an alternate route, according to the announcement.
Officials also said both directions of the drawbridge will be reduced to one lane from Monday, Sept. 26, until May.
"The closures and lane reductions are necessary to facilitate the ongoing rehabilitation of the drawbridge over Sloop Channel," officials said. "The project includes similar work on the Loop Parkway drawbridge over Long Creek, which will commence next month."
