The waterfront festival is set for Saturday, Oct. 19 and Sunday, Oct. 20 at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park.
Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and organizers of the Oyster Festival announced on Tuesday, Sept. 24 that the iconic seaside festival has secured a new title sponsor in Blue Point Brewing Company in Patchogue.
"The Oyster Fest Committee estimates that between 150,000 to 200,000 people attend each year," said Marta Kane, Town of Oyster Bay spokesperson.Additionally, a new attraction was announced for this year’s festival –courtesy of the Nao Victoria Foundation, an exact replica of the ship sailed by Christopher Columbus himself, the Santa Maria, will be on hand in Oyster Bay Harbor for residents of all ages to climb aboard.
Saladino said, “The Blue Point Brewing Company will be a great partner for the festival and help ensure that it will go off without a hitch. This annual tradition, which has been in operation for nearly four decades, provides great festivities for residents throughout the tri-state area. Most importantly, the Oyster Bay Rotary Club and the Oyster Bay Charitable Fund provide the opportunity through this festival to benefit more than two dozen local not-for-profits.”
As part of their title sponsorship, Blue Point Brewing Company will host the first-ever Blue Point Beer Garden at the 2019 Oyster Festival. The area will feature six different Blue Point beers, both new and old, including a special IPA brewed just for the festival.
The East Coast’s largest waterfront festival now in its 36th year features food vendors, merchandise exhibits, amusement rides, and a waterfront family fun zone, along with the news attraction of the famous ship sailed by Christopher Columbus himself as part of his expedition to the New World in 1492.
“This beautiful vessel, provided to the festival courtesy of the Nao Victoria Foundation, will be open to residents of all ages to climb aboard and marvel at its majestic nautical beauty,” said Saladino.
“This year’s festival is shaping up to be the best one yet, and I am so glad to be able to bring together the local and business community to make sure that this year’s event not only got off the ground but make sure it is better than ever.”
There were concerns earlier this month the festival would be canceled because of sponsorship backout but an effort led by Saladino resulted in landing the new title sponsor.
