Known for using farm-fresh and locally sourced ingredients, Autentico offers modern and seasonal takes on some of the most traditional Italian fare.
The restaurant’s head chef, Francesco Pecoraro, previously operated a restaurant in Italy and has brought the same culinary touch to Autentico:
“Working both summer and winter seasons, I have been able to travel throughout Italy, which offered me the opportunity to compare the various traditions of the many cities I worked in,” he writes on Autentico’s website. “This encouraged me to start experimenting myself and moved me away from a traditional style cuisine toward a more interpretive Mediterranean style…I hope to bring my own personal style of Italian cuisine to America.”
Unfortunately, you won’t find Autentico’s menu on its website; that’s because it’s written by hand and changed depending on what’s in season. Instead, you’ll find a photo gallery featuring some of the restaurant’s picture-perfect plates and desserts like tiramisu, chocolate lava cake and house-made cookies.
But don’t let the mystery of the menu deter you from stopping in - the restaurant has a consistent and near-perfect 4.9/5-star rating on Facebook. Though some say the food takes time to come out of the kitchen, virtually all agree that it’s entirely worth the wait.
“Simply the finest Italian food I've had outside the Italian borders. The chef prepares a selection of foods as if he's in Italy serving discriminating Italians. The menu is handwritten and explained by the server. Quality food requires time to prepare so bring whatever patience you have along with you…This is a place to sit, talk, drink and savor your meal. Make a reservation and enjoy!” wrote Marty B. in a Dec. 24, 2018 Facebook review.
Autentico is open Tuesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information, visit the restaurant’s website and Yelp page.
