The incident took place in East Meadow around 4 p.m., Wednesday, May 24 at the store located at 2411 Hempstead Turnpike.
According to Nassau County Police detectives, a 23-year-old man was working at the store when three men entered and punched him, and forced him to the floor.
The robbers then forced the man and another employee, a 23-year-old woman, into the rear storage room by displaying a large handle knife and cut the female employee on her right pinky finger causing a laceration, police said.
Police said the men did not allow the employees to leave the room and forced the victims to unlock the store safe.
The robbers removed numerous cell phones, iPads, and Air pods worth more than $60,000 and some $50 in cash from the register, police said.
The group then left out the rear emergency door and left in a blue Toyota Rav 4, they added.
After a thorough investigation, NYPD officers were able to locate the vehicle occupied by five suspects believed to be involved in the robbery and placed them under arrest without incident.
They were transported by Nassau County Police to the Third Precinct for arrest processing.
The suspects include:
- Ibrahim Fofana, age 19, of Manhattan,
- Ousmane Diallo, age 18, of the Bronx
- Daouda Diarrassouba, age 19, of Manhattan,
- Mujib Bonkano, age 20, of the Bronx
- Amadou Niono, age 21, of Manhattan
Suspects Fofana, Diallo, Diarrassouba, Bonkano, and Niono were all charged with:
- Two counts of robbery
- Two counts of assault
- Two counts of unlawful imprisonment
Fofana, Diallo, and Diarrassouba were additionally charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
They will all be arraigned on Friday, May 26, in Hempstead.
