A steady dose of snow and ice coupled with sub-freezing conditions have forced many towns in the county to exhaust most or all of their snow-removal budgets, and the county has already surpassed its overtime budget for winter weather, the Putnam County Examiner reported.
Even as the threat of snow subsides, both county and local government aren't out of the woods, as they now have to deal with repairing potholes and other winter-related road damage, the Putnam County Examiner said.
