Fire Heavily Damages Home, Displaces Residents In Fairfield County
A Fairfield County home was heavily damaged during a fire overnight as snow continued to come down in the area that received more than 18 inches of snow. The fire took place around 11:08 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 6 Sage Road, in the Lake Waubeeka area of Danbury, said James Gagliardo, communications director for the Danbury Fire Department. $50K Torched Baseball Field Incident Leads To Suspensions Of Three Ridgefield HS Coaches
Three varsity baseball coaches at Ridgefield High School have been placed on administrative leave after extreme measures were taken to try and squeeze in a high school baseball game. The field at Governor Park was doused with gasoline and set on fire over the weekend in an effort to dry out a playing surface that had been rained on in advance of Ridgefield’s scheduled game against Amity. Three-Alarm Fire Damages Deli In Danbury
A three-alarm fire heavily damaged a Danbury deli. The Danbury 911 center received multiple calls stating that a large amount of smoke was billowing from the Marcello's Deli and Catering near Lake Avenue and Hobson Street late in the evening on Monday, Jan. 14. The 911 dispatch center then alerted fire units, which arrived quickly at the scene. Fire crews confirmed that the smoke was coming from the roof of the structure. Firefighters From Multiple Municipalities Battle Blaze In South Salem
Firefighters from multiple municipalities in Northern Westchester battled a house fire late Sunday afternoon near the Fairfield County border. Quick Work Of Firefighters Saves South Salem Home
Quick action by firefighters from the Vista and South Salem fire departments saved a family's home following a basement fire. The fire started around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at 87 East St., in South Salem, according to Vista Fire Chief Jeff Peck. Once on scene, firefighters found smoke showing from inside the home and quickly determined the fire was coming from the basement. After running hoses, firefighters were able to knock down the fire within minutes, Peck said.
