Colleagues and loved ones are mourning the loss of a beloved pediatrician and wife who was killed in a freak accident on a New York highway while they were traveling to view the total solar eclipse. Long Island resident Dr. Monika Woroniecki, age 58, of Stony Brook, died Saturday, April 6, after falling from a moving Airstream trailer on Route 12E in the Jefferson County town of Brownville, about 60 miles north of Syracuse, according to State Police. Pediatric Doctor From Hudson Valley Nabbed For Sex Abuse
A Hudson Valley pediatric doctor has been charged in connection with alleged sexual abuse of children. Dutchess County resident Ibrahim Rabadi, age 63, of Red Hook, was arraigned on Tuesday, March 29 on a sealed indictment. The investigation into Rabadi, who practices in Columbia County in Hudson, and in Greene County in Catskill, began after two female victims reported separate incidents to police, said Hudson Police Chief Edward Moore. A school district in Fairfield County announced a change in the starting time for the first day of classes of the new calendar year amid a climb in cases as the highly contagious COVID-19 Omicron strain becomes more prevalent. Teen Who Nearly Died Urges Area Residents To Get Flu Shots
This year’s flu season is in its infancy, but one Hudson Valley teenager is encouraging area residents to get their flu shots after she nearly died from flu-related symptoms. Last year, 13-year-old Rebecca Berak, of Poughkeepsie, tested positive for influenza and within hours of her diagnosis, her fever spiked to 106-degrees.
