2 Dead In I-84 Crash Involving Freightliner, Government-Insured Vehicle: CT State Police Police have released details in a weekend crash on I-84 in Danbury that involved three vehicles including a Freightliner, and left two people dead. A disabled Hyundai in the left lane of the Exit 8 on-ramp was struck by a Lexus, whose driver was from Avon, traveling in the left, westbound lane around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12, Connecticut State Police said. Some of the Hyundai's occupants had exited the vehicle, police said. After being struck by the Lexus, the Hyundai spun out into the path of the Freightliner. The incident took place in Rockland County around 8:20 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23 in West Nyack. According to Detective Norm Peters, of the Clarkstown Police, a man was struck by a vehicle in the area of 116 N. Route 303. Person Struck By Tractor-Trailer In Fairfield County A pedestrian was hit by a tractor-trailer and seriously injured on I-84 in Fairfield County. Connecticut State Police said the incident took place around 3:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 25 near Exit 11 in Newtown. Responding troopers said the person was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The roadway was closed for several hours, backing up traffic for at least eight miles, before reopening later on Monday morning. The extent of injuries was not immediately provided.
