Woman Who Killed Surgeon In Hudson Valley Crash Pleads Guilty, DA Says
A 38-year-old Hudson Valley woman who was high on cocaine when she crashed into an area vascular surgeon, killing him, has pleaded guilty.
Ezzial Williams, of Newburgh, pleaded guilty in Orange County Court to vehicular manslaughter on Tuesday, Feb. 14, right before a trial was to begin, said Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler.
Under the plea agreement will be sentenced to three and one half to seven years in prison, which is the maximum permitted under law, when she is sentenced on Tuesday, April 25.

A fire chief and town highway superintendent in the region has been arrested for alleged sex crimes against a child.
Sullivan County resident Robert Hufcut, age 55, of Wurtsboro, was arrested on Tuesday, May 31, for several sex crimes following a months-long investigation.
Hufcut, who is the Mamakating Highway Superintendent and Summitville Fire Department Chief in Sullivan County, has been charged with predatory sexual assault against a child and course of sexual conduct against a child, said Trooper Steven Nevel, of the New York State Police.

A teen who used to live in the Hudson Valley is facing charges for allegedly raping a minor repeatedly, New York State Police announced.
Cameron McEwen, age 19, a former Orange County resident now living in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, was arrested on Monday, June 21, and charged with rape, coercion, sexual misconduct, and endangering the welfare of a child following an “extensive investigation.”
Police said that the investigation determined that in December 2020, McEwen allegedly coerced and raped a minor “numerous times” while living in Middletown.

A 29-year-old man has admitted selling heroin to an area resident who died of an overdose.
Alban K. Rowe, 29, of Walden, pleaded guilty on Friday, June 21 before Orange County Court Judge Robert H. Freehill, to criminal sale of a controlled substance for having sold heroin to the man at a residence in the Village of Montgomery, at approximately 3 a.m., on July 18, 2018, Orange County District Attorney David Hoovlersaid.
The man subsequently died of a heroin overdose, Hoovler said.
