Man Nabbed For Commercial Burglaries In Region, Police Say A man from the region was nabbed by police for the second time for allegedly committing commercial burglaries. Sullivan County resident Justus L. McMoore, age 37 of Monticello, was arrested on Saturday, Oct. 8, according to Monticello PD Lt. Mark Johnstone. McMoore had been previously arrested by Monticello Police on Saturday, Oct. 1, and charged with burglary when officers investigating an activated motion alarm found McMoore in the act of burglarizing a business located on Forestburg road in the Village of Monticello, Johnstone said. Man Found Dead On Bench In Shopping Center Parking Lot In Region This story has been updated. Police are investigating after a man was found dead on a bench in a shopping center parking lot in the region. The incident took place in Sullivan County around noon on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the Mountain Mall in Monticello. According to Lt. Mark Johnstone, of the Monticello Police, no foul play is suspected; police are awaiting an autopsy as the investigation continues. Man Slumped Over Wheel Resuscitated By Officers In Region Police officers in the region came to the aid of a 62-year-old man who was suffering a medical emergency in the middle of a busy intersection. Shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 30 in Sullivan County, Monticello Police Officer Justin Dawson came across a stationary car at a green traffic light at the intersection of Bank Street and Broadway. Monticello Police Lt. Mark Johnstone said that upon further investigation, Dawson found a 62-year-old man slumped over the steering wheel, unresponsive and in cardiac arrest. Area Man Shot For Second Time In Months Not Cooperating, Police Say A man who was shot in the area had been shot just months earlier in the shoulder. The shooting took place around 12:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 28, in Sullivan County at 36 York Avenue in Monticello. Officers responded to the area for a report of a shoting and found the 25-year-old Monticello man with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to Lt. Mark Johnstone of the Monticello Police. Worker Rescued After Tool Pierces Hand At Area Business Firefighters spent more than an hour rescuing a worker who had a large metal auger through his hand and stuck inside a pipe at a Sullivan County business. The incident took place around 9:19 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 18, at Ideal Foods, located 89 Mill St., in Liberty, said Liberty Assistant Fire Chief Mark Johnstone.
