Four Hospitalized As Car, School Bus Crash At Mahopac High School
Four people were hospitalized after a crash involving a car and school bus just as school was letting out at Mahopac High School. Just before 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 17, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department, Rescue, EMS and Fire Police were dispatched, along with EMStar paramedics and multiple PCSO units already on the scene at the Baldwin Place Road entrance of the high school for a car vs. bus accident with injuries, said Jack Casey of the Mahopac Falls Fire Department. A filing error dating back nearly a decade could reportedly cost the Mahopac School District millions of dollars in aid if lawmakers don’t pass special legislation to avoid the penalties. A cost report for a capital project during the 2011-2012 academic year was never submitted to the state, which could cost the district $4 million in the long run, according to an Examiner report. Lacrosse players from New Rochelle were reportedly the victims of racist behavior during a game against Mahopac last week. News 12 reported this week that parents of members of the New Rochelle junior varsity boys lacrosse team stated that their children were the victim of racism, with some students calling players “(expletive) Mexicans,” and others refusing to shake hands with African-American players.
