More than 200 gallons of oil flowed down a hill, spilled into Lake Mahopac and had to be cleaned up by first responders. The oil spill was reported on Mount Hope Road in Mahopac at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, prompting a heavy response by multiple emergency agencies. Large Truck Leaking Fuel Causes Road Closure In Ossining
Update: Police said that the scene is nearly cleaned up, and Main Street is expected to reopen at approximately 6 p.m. on Monday afternoon. All hands were on deck Monday morning on Main Street in Ossining, as crews worked quickly to clean up a massive oil spill in the area that forced a lengthy road closure. State Sues Manufacturers Of Foam That Contaminated Drinking Water In Area
New York State is suing the 3M Company and five other companies to recover the cost for environmental cleanup and natural resource damages caused by the toxic chemicals in firefighting foam they manufacture. Details Emerge In Double Tractor-Trailer I-87 Crash With Serious Injury
One person was seriously injured in a double tractor-trailer crash on I-87 that closed the major roadway in Orange County for more than 12 hours. The crash occurred around 3:52 p.m. Monday in the town of Newburgh, said New York State Trooper Michael P. Cassella. The initial investigation suggests vehicle one, a tandem tractor-trailer hauling recycled aluminum cans, was southbound on I-87 near mile marker 63.3 in the right lane slowing for an active construction zone which also contained an unrelated motor vehicle crash.
