NJ Mom Killed By Falling Tree While Camping With Family In Furious Upstate NY Storm
A New Jersey woman was killed in upstate New York over the weekend when a tree fell on her camper during fierce thunderstorms that ripped through the region, authorities said. At about 10:50 a.m. the Delaware County 911 Center received multiple reports of trees down on campers at multiple locations with an individual trapped at the Russell Brook Campground in the Town of Colchester. Firefighters raced into action after a car was consumed by flames on a busy parkway in Northern Westchester. The blaze happened on Thursday, June 12 just after 8 p.m., when a vehicle caught on fire on the Taconic State Parkway in Briarcliff Manor, according to the village's fire department. A hazardous device team was called to a Hudson Valley property after a mortar shell was found during excavation work.
