Crafting Trouble: Joann Declares Bankruptcy For Second Time In Less Than 12 Months
Arts and crafts retailer Joann is declaring bankruptcy for the second time in less than a year, officials said. Joann filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in a Delaware court, the company said in a news release on Wednesday, Jan. 15. The chain known for sewing and other craft materials said the move will help facilitate a sale to maximize the business's value. A longtime Hudson Valley police records employee known for her engaging personality has died at 68. Dutchess County native Dorinda R. 'Rindy' Germano, of Poughkeepsie, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Monticello. Born in Poughkeepsie, Rindy lived her 68 years with a "contagious zest for life and a heart brimming with kindness," according to her obituary. Man Banned From Chain Steals $2K In Items At Area Store, Police Say
A 55-year-old man who was banned from all of a national chain's locations was caught stealing $2,000 worth of items from its location in Putnam County, state police said. Police began an investigation regarding Dennis J. Eisenberg of the Bronx allegedly stealing merchandise from Michaels on Independent Way in the town of Southeast in April. An investigation revealed Michaels, which sells art supplies, crafts and framing, had previously issued a cease-and-desist order on Eisenberg banning him from all its stores due to his previous arrests for larceny at Michaels.
