Wappingers Falls Three-Alarm Fire Destroys Home
Numerous fire departments are on the scene of a three-alarm blaze at a two-and-half story home in Wappingers Falls that has caused extensive damage. According to officials, the fire started around 2:30 p.m. at 60 Huber Road in Chelsea and quickly spread to a three-alarm blaze. Chelsea Fire District, Castle Point, Glenham, City Of Beacon, Hughsonville and Village of Fishkill FAST Team are on the scene. There are no reports of any injuries. This is a developing story. ID Released For Fishkill Fatal Crash Victim
A Beacon woman has been identified as the victim in a two-vehicle fatal crash in Fishkill that closed Route 9D for hours. Hilary R. Holmes, 49, was killed when the crash occurred around 9 a.m. Monday between a 2009 Honda Accord and a 2013 International box truck after she lost control of the vehicle, said Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Honda was northbound on Route 9D near Farmview Lane when Holmes lost control. Three Severely Burned, Dog KIlled In Beacon House Fire
Three people received severe burns after running down a staircase through fire, and another jumped from a second-story window in an effort to escape flames ripping through their home. According to City of Beacon Fire Chief Gary VanVoorhis, the fire department received a 911 call regarding a house fire around 4:45 a.m. at 98 Rombout Ave., with occupants trapped inside. Firefighters arrived on scene within two minutes and found a two-and-half-story wood frame home with heavy fire showing out the front door and on the second floor, VanVoorhis said.
